Kandy was found in a cardboard box in the parking lot of a large grocery store. The person who found her brought her to us & I couldn't believe how much she looked like another puppy that had just been brought to us from another section of town. Both pups were about 6 or 7 weeks old, brown w/ black masks & looked very much like Belgian Malinois mixes. So they were named Kit & Carson. Unfortunately, both pups came down with Parvo. After weeks of nursing them, they rallied to full strength & each went to a new home. Three years later I got a phone call that Kit (who had been renamed) needed to come back to us because she had bitten their grandchild. When she arrived at my home, I almost cried. The poor baby was a walking bone. She didn't have an ounce of fat anywhere on her body. The people said she had been suffering from IBS (chronic diarreah, often-times stress induced) and their veterinarian had prescribed canned ID dog food (very bland & very expensive). I was so glad she had come home to us. She needed love & peace. (Not that she would get it with all the animals here.) But within a short time, the stressful life she had known began to fade into the past. Her IBS disappeared. She ate anything she wanted with no stomach upset. She began playing in the water with the hose. She interacted with the other dogs without fear. She put on weight, although I don't think she will ever put on enough weight that you could call her fat.
